Debajit Chaliha did his schooling in St. Edmunds School, Shillong and Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram, New Delhi. He graduated from St. Stephens College, Delhi. Debajit looked after the production side of the business. He was instrumental in modernising the factory and improving the general health of the tea estate. Before they exited the plantations, Korangani Tea Estate was one of the highest yielding tea estates in Assam with much improved quality standards. He had initiated use of technology in the tea estate and was responsible for the tea estate being ISO 22000 certified.

He now looks after the packaged tea business. He personally tastes and makes the blends for the various packages. He also handles distribution.

He is married to Nayantara and lives in Guwahati- They have two sons- Udayjit and Rudrajit.
